![]() I know I would not mind seeing my Vr go into a Miata, had I not already been building it up for another VAG vehicle.Ĭonsidering the pennies I have spent on my VR, and how well the 12v’s take too boost and the aftermarket that is continuing to develop for these engines it is a very viable option, especially when the price is right. And if it does not work out, buy a kit and an Lsx. I can see a 12v VR as an affordable stepping stone to higher development that would allow someone to tweak the chassis and mounts while still not breaking the bank. Just a little longer and wider than a 4cyl, with lots of room for a good sized turbo. Oělower sticking out the hood is not really what I want in a street car or track toy. OĚ centrifugal Supercharger would be fun though. Cubic inches in this forum, but I feel in this case it is prompt to supply some argument: I know we are not supposed to argue the merits of boost vs. The reason I would consider a vr swap, other than being a vw guy:Ģ4v 3.2 VRT, being set up for transverse mounting in an Audi A4, The mounts are identical to those used on later Vr’s and the external dimensions are almost the same. Plus I got my motor, harness, and ECU for free. I'd love to shave weight wherever possible, but I think the low end grunt and modest bump in HP will make the miata perfect without overwhelming the chassis. Honestly, I'm one of the few in here who thinks that an LS2 would make the miata less fun. The engine spacer will weigh about 15#, and yeah the VR6 has an iron block, but so does the 1.8. ![]() It might even be comparable to a turbo kit. To those concerned about weight, I'm willing to bet that my VR6 project will be much lighter than an LS2 swap, as I'm sticking with the stock transmission and PPF. FM has photos of their before and after corner-weight numbers. If you look at the threads from those that have weighed their kits or even the photo-essay build that FM has on their site you might be surprised at how little difference there really is in weight with the V8 option (as well as how little disturbance to the force (balance) as well. I think, if you include the shipping containers, the turbo kit could add maybe 70#. ![]()
